"Listen earnestly to anything [your children] want to tell you, no matter what. If you don't listen eagerly to the little stuff when they are little, they won't tell you the big stuff when they are big, because to them all of it has always been big stuff." - Catherine M. Wallace

Need to get it off my chest
I have felt frustrated all day long today. I'm probably being overly sensitive (it is almost that time of the month) but I'm just tired of people feeling sorry for me and then not offering to have me come over. Now I know that most people probably don't know what to do to help someone out whose husband is not at home so I can't get too upset, but I hope that by writing this it will help someone else down the road help someone else. When your husband is gone it gets lonely. The next time you come across someone who has a spouse gone don't just give them an apologetic smile. Invite them over to hang out, for dinner, for something. Just because you see them out and about during the day doesn't mean they aren't lonely. If you are thinking about them during the day call them up and tell them and invite them over. If you're thinking about them chances are they need someone.

And just because someone doesn't have a husband and kids, they still like to be included within the circle of friends and likes to come over for dinner too.. there I vented too.. You're not alone Jen. If I was there I'd hang out with you.
Aww Sarah! I would have you over for dinner if you were here! It's sad but too many people (myself included) are just too into themselves and their own lives. It's so easy to ignore those thoughts that creep into our heads about people but once we realize that's the spirit we need to stop what we are doing and make the phone call.
I agree--you are not alone. I have two friends in particular in our ward, (which has a ton of military families) and their husbands are gone from 3 or 4 days to 5 or 6 months at a time. They both have a two year old, and a baby. I don't know how I would make it. You all inspire me! I use to feel sorry for myself when Shawn was gone for a day or two because of work, but after befriending these women, (and reading your stories about your awesome faith!), it just humbles me more and more. You really become so much more grateful for the time that you do have to spend together.
